3 WAYS TO MAKE A WHITE T-SHIRT LOOK COOL!
A basic white t-shirt can go far in your wardrobe when you begin placing labels on your garments; such as, “too casual” or “too dressy” — this is the moment when you start eliminating options within your wardrobe.
The fact is your white tee may just be the most overlooked item in your closet with the most potential for outfit versatility.
To prove this, I put it to the task and styled up my favorite white t-shirt by Tony Innovoug. I especially love this top because it is a part of a great movement (#Do Good”) by a fellow Laotian. The designer uses old traditional textiles to create new contemporary garments. He says, “Repurposing not only helped keep expenses low, but allowed Itsara to be creative in giving new life to dormant materials and reduce waste.”
I’ll be taking a page from his book and showing three different looks from one t-shirt. That’s right, I’ve created a to show you how to wear t-shirt throughout your week.
The first ensemble I styled was a business casual/office look. I paired my t-shirt with a pencil skirt and gold heels. Getting dressed for work doesn’t have to be a bore. This outfit was a low effort; high-impact duo makes for an effortlessly stylish look. My New Yorker style handkerchief choker along with the mirror sunglasses gives it a little edge, but these can be replaced with a statement necklace and simple eyeglasses for a more conservative setting. With this look, I would make sure to tuck in the t-shirt in to help define your waist and give your outfit an overall polished flair.
The second outfit I put together exudes chic boss lady with a splash of fun. A cool blazer is ideal for an everyday office look. I paired mine with the white t-shirt and sleek wide-legged trousers for this fresh look.
The third look is perfect for a date night or a girls’ night out. This is a rocker chic outfit. When you wear something as memorable and fabulous as a great pair of leather pants, it’s best to let the pants do the talking. Simplify the rest of your look with a basic tee and minimal accessories. For me, it was a simple- a pair of black shades and edgy wrist wear.
This all goes to show- while an item may be a more casual or dressier piece, which in no way means you can’t style it to fit towards a different feel or look. It all comes down to your styling. A basic t-shirt can carry you from the day, work to a night out, with the right styling tricks, you’ll be turning something as basic as a sweatshirt into a chic wardrobe staple. A white T-shirt will never go out of style. It has a guaranteed spot in the fashion hall of fame and can be worn in a million different ways. Now, how would you rock your white t-shirt?
